Aizhana Nurkenova

Aizhana Nurkenova is an award-winning composer and pianist whose work spans film, television and the concert stage. Among her recent credits are I Want to Live, a winner at the 2026 Student Academy Awards, and Corps à Cœur (Body to Heart), a finalist at the same awards. Other recent highlights include Ether, selected for La Cinef at the 78th Cannes Film Festival, and the audio drama The Great Goose Migration, which won Gold at the New York Festivals Radio Awards.

Aizhana combines classical craftsmanship and orchestral scoring with a modern musical language, blending synth textures and unconventional sounds. Her approach is collaborative and story-led, working closely with creative teams to find a distinctive musical voice for each project and shape the score around its character and creative vision.

Aizhana holds a Master’s degree in Composing for Film and Television from the National Film and Television School, where she was a PRS Foundation Scholar. Before moving into screen composition, she established an international career as a concert pianist after earning an MA in Piano Performance at the Royal Academy of Music, where she was awarded the prestigious Hodgson Piano Fellowship. Praised by International Piano magazine as “exhilarating” and “singing to heaven”, Aizhana brings the same depth and expressive range to her screen compositions. ​
